Other Areas of Study

Cross-Curricular Themes

These themes, including Health Education, Multicultural issues, links with industry and equal opportunities, are explored with regards to the age of the child, through our thematic approach.

Personal, Social, and Health Education

school beachcleaning

We recognise the importance of providing children with a balanced health education programme. Matters relating to Sex Education will be dealt with honestly as they arise. Specific instruction is given to older pupils. We inform parents in advance and give the opportunity to view the material used.

All children are taught aspects of road safety and basic first aid, and are able to take the Pedestrian Award and Cycling Proficiency Schemes.

Multicultural Education and Equal Opportunities

We encourage the children to be aware of and sensitive to the needs and differing lifestyles of people from other cultures. Children have been able to meet people from third-world countries and learn about their challenges. We are proud of our long association with the organisation "Operation Christmas Child", who provide aid to orphanages in Eastern Europe. Regardless of gender or disability, we encourage all children to participate in every aspect of our school life and activities.

We have three partner schools around the world: a street children's school in Delhi, India, a Maasai tribe school in Loisaba, Kenya, and Norman Park School, Brisbane, Australia. See our links to other schools

In 2008 we achieved International School Status, an award accredited by the British Council.

Stackpole Residential Visit

canoes at Stackpole

Children in Y6 visit Stackpole, Pembrokeshire for a week's residential field course. This is normally held early in the Autumn Term. Children are able to work towards the 'John Muir Award', awarded in recognition of their development of an awareness of the environment and nature conservation activities carried out during the week.
