All parents of children at Sherston School are invited to be members of the Friends of Sherston School or 'FSS'.
At their Annual General Meeting, held in the Autumn Term, a committee is formed to organise social events for both parents and children. Fund-raising events are also organised to enable us to buy items or arrange trips that would not otherwise be possible.
Recently the FSS have established vegetable beds, subsidies for school trips and equipment including an activity trail, P.E. equipment and musical instruments. We are always very grateful for the help offered to us by parents through their particular talents or expertise.
The FSS aim to play an important part in the exciting task of developing the school site. Future activities will be the establishment of an environment area on the Sopworth Lane side of the school.
Money raised by FSS is used in many ways. Examples include:
Subsidies for school trips
Purchasing of playground equipment
Purchasing of sports equipment
Funding the Voices Foundation work within the school
Paying for Storybox Theatre visits
We are always grateful for any help offered to us by parents, such as helping to organise or run an event, or by simply coming along and supporting our fund raising.
If you would like more information of feel that you can help we would very much like to hear from you. Please contact a committee member via the school.
