School Connections

Busy Hands Pre-School

We maintain close links with the Pre-School that meets in the Village Hall. New Entrants visit our school during the summer term and our reception teacher sees each child in their pre-school setting.

The Pre-School OFSTED reports are available here: Reports for Busy Hands Pre-School

Primary/Secondary

Most children leave us after Year 6 to attend Malmesbury School. At various times during their final year at Sherston, the children may be able to visit their new school for a taste of the new opportunities ahead of them. In addition, teachers from Malmesbury visit us, either to share in our work or to meet and talk with their new intake.

A record of each child's progress is passed on to his/her new school.

Sherston Mosul School, Kenya

In their last term at Sherston, the children will have the opportunity to spend two full days at Malmesbury. During this time, parents will be invited to attend an evening meeting and to visit the school. Parents are also invited to attend Link Group meetings, open to all, which are held during the year. Details are circulated in the school newsletters.

Our links have been strengthened through being a partner school in Malmesbury Schools recent successful bid for specialist school status.

The Village Community

The school is very much part of the Sherston community. We are always very grateful for the support the village at large gives us through attending our events at school or by helping with visits in the locality. In return the school facilities are used by a number of groups at weekends and evenings.

We also invite members of the Seniors Club to events in the school and visit them for their Christmas meeting.

Around the World

The school received International School Status in September 2008, an award given by the British Council in recognition of the international emphasis we give to our curriculum.

Sifoe School, The Gambia

We have established links with a number of schools around the world. In 2006 we were honoured to welcome Erich Ole Kasana, a Maasai Elder from Kenya to open our school. We have established a link with the school in his community and a member of staff has visited to school to help with its construction.

We also have links with Sifoe Lower School in The Gambia, and again visits and exchange of work have occurred.

We have regular e-mail with Norman Park School, Brisbane, Australia. and maintain links with the Matheison Music School in Calcutta and a street childrens’ school in Delhi
