Congratulations to Nick Bowditch (Head Teacher) and Debby Liddle (Deputy Head) on reaching the 20 year mark at our local primary in Sherston. The well respected duo, who make a formidable team, have witnessed so much in their 20 years. "Sherston School may have grown and changed during the years, but our guiding principle of family spirit remains the same" reflects Mr Bowditch.
Chair of Governors, Richard Hulme thanked Nick and Debby for their commitment and exemplary service to the school as part of the recent Christmas Fair. Past and present pupils were on hand to present cards and champagne: Jamie Finch was at Sherston School when Nick and Debby first started twenty years ago, and now one of his sons is in Debby's Reception class!

The Wildlife Area is an ambitious project using land adjacent to Sopworth Road kindly leased by the Parish Council to the school governors. It has a variety of areas linked with a meandering path and with access gates in three points from the playground. Features include a pond with a dipping platform and boggy area. The excavated spoil was used to make a raised seating area and outdoor classroom, a bird hide, and a nature trail. See the newEnvironment Area page
The sixth Annual Minety TAG festival took place in October 2011 with 10 teams taking part from 8 primary schools. The games were played with great spirit with all teams playing one another in a 'round robin' structure. Sherston's team from years five and six were the eventual winners with Lea and Garsden a close second.
St. Sampsons took a creditable third place with their first appearance in the tournament. All participants were awarded certificates, with medals for the winners and runners-up. After they won 7 of their 8 games the winner's shield was awarded to Sherston by John Lambert, Head of Physical Education at Malmesbury Secondary School.
Sherston has a new, purpose-built, seven-classroom school to be proud of. The seventh classroom has recently been added so that each year group can have their own dedicated space. The school has every modern facility, including an IT suite and music tuition rooms. With space now for over 200 pupils there is room to grow.
Sherston is a beautiful North Wiltshire village, 10 minutes from M4 J17, and about 5.5 miles from both Malmesbury and Tetbury. The village sits between branches of the River Avon, and honours John Rattlebone, a Saxon warrior who fought for King Edmund Ironside against the Danish Canute in a local battle in 1016.
